Financial Failure Can Make You Feel Doubtful

You want to create a successful financial future. You are excited about the idea of being financially free and being able to never worry about money again. Why is it that even though we can see a clear path to our goals, a single shred of doubt can paralyze us? Why is it that when out of our comfort zone, we talk ourselves out of success almost as quickly as we thought about being successful? I am sure this has happened in other aspects of your life. It has in mine. For me I think it was when I said, “I am going to find a job that I love!” But then that little voice of doubt showed up and said “I’m not sure I am capable of doing that. What if I fail again? What if no one thinks I’m good enough?

The truth is if I wanted to create something that was different than my current situation, I knew that I had to get over this self-doubt. When I found myself doubting my capabilities, I had to remind myself that I was just human. It is natural to think of the negatives that could come from a situation, but I only allowed myself to dwell on the positive outcomes. Did I put this doubt on the back burner so I could actually move forward? I stopped needing to know the details about how to get what I wanted, until I knew what I wanted.

I knew I wanted a new job, but that was not very specific. If I thought too much about getting a job and not about what kind of job I wanted, I got lost in the details of getting hired anywhere and fast. But if I had gotten just any job, how would that make me happy if I never knew what kind of job I really wanted? Your brain and your intuition will guide you to your goals once you have a clear picture of those goals. You need to trust that your brain will be giving you the tools to make it a reality when you allow it to. Doubting does not allow this process.

Give yourself 5 to 10 minutes of free time a day to spend focusing on want you want and how you will feel when you have achieved your goal. Let yourself feel these positive emotions and imagine that you have already achieved this goal and you are living it. Let yourself get excited, because these positive emotions will energize you. Create the vision of your goal.

My goal was simply to have a job that I enjoyed and not have to worry about money. I had no idea what “not worrying about money” was to me. I want you to start construction on your goal of financial success. What will financial success mean to you? Be as specific as possible.
